Okay...so a lot of folks don't understand the whole "climbing" obsession thing, and I've had a lot of questions about whether or not I'll climb again since taking a fall in November.
Interestingly, I can think back to when I was a lot younger, remembering folks with an obsession for skiing/snowboarding, gymnastics, hunting, or a lot of other sporting activities with potentially dangerous consequences (and yeah, I was a diver so I guess that qualifies too). Not too many people questioned a lot of my relatives who decided to load a rifle every October to trapse into the woods with dozens of other strangers to shoot down a deer or pheasant or whatever. In college I had lots of friends on the gymnastics team who'd been knocked unconscious by a poorly executed dismount, and others who fractured lots of bones on the ski slopes. I guess it is just human nature to enjoy whatever we enjoy.....and develop a passion for it.
While I was laid up I drew inspiration from these folks...they're amazing! Crazy? No way! Life-loving.....maybe.
